Uniqa Tower, Vienna, Austria

TA Reference: Uniqa Tower

TA has provided design support and balancing devices to the new head quarters of Uniqa Group, one of the leading insurance groups in Central Europe. Their energy efficiency efforts have been rewarded with EU’s green building certificate.

Uniqa Group, one of the leading insurance groups in Central Europe required a reliable partner in design and balancing of the heating and cooling system for the new headquarters in Vienna. Future orientation, quality, flexibility and innovation are Uniqa’s core values and they are reflected in the new 75 metres high office building called the Uniqa tower. High demands on flexibility and energy efficiency required techniques that could obtain ideal conditions in terms of lighting, ventilation, heating and cooling.

TA was contacted to provide a hydronic solution that would contribute to the efficient use of energy in the heating and cooling systems. TA supported the consultant in designing the hydronic system. The system is a variable flow system. The heating is delivered by convectors and the cooling by cooling ceilings. Both are equipped with the terminal balancing valve, TBV-C. The differential pressure is kept constant in the heating system with differential pressure controllers, STAP in combination with the manual balancing valves STAD. In the cooling system the differential pressure is controlled by differential pressure controllers suitable for higher differential pressures. KTM valves are installed to control all circuits.

The hydronic system is balanced and will ensure that the right amount of heating and cooling to each area or room will be delivered with a minimum of energy use. TA’s solution contributed to minimise the energy use in the heating and cooling systems. The Uniqa group’s total energy efficiency efforts were awarded with EU’s greenbuilding certificate.
